As Morgan and Elizabeth’s relationship develops, it is interesting to watch. She has to be sure that Elizabeth isn’t a stand-in for her lost love. For Elizabeth, Morgan is the answer to her recurring vision. She may have finally found a strong woman to love. I liked Morgan. She is strong and kicks ass. Mario seemingly has the strength to tame and defeat her but she is resilient and able to stand up to Mario. Her integrity is important to her and she will not lie even if it means she will not achieve the required ending. I have to admit I liked the ending. It was perfect for this book. I look forward to reading more of Isabelle Rose's work.

Natalie's Garden by Jessica Lynne Gardner
She had the look of a girl who’d been stunning once. Her thin, pale face was the only unmarred part of her. The spindled body parts showing under her plain garb were gleaming with jagged candy cane scar tissue. The most intriguing thing was her hair. Even with her head clean and smooth as a newborn’s, he could tell it was exquisite. Folded over the striped forearms and calves was a delicate, golden down that refracted pure unadulterated sunshine. She was heaven. There was no green or orange tinge some blondes had—it was warm—the brightest, palest gold. Her eyebrows were the same but short and fine, making it difficult to see the gleam.
Many would consider her large eyes beautiful; they were sparkling ice cycles, tinged with arctic blue. But when he looked at her he avoided them, there was too much pain and secrets there, casting hard shadows underneath. All he cared about was her shining arms, which were folded tightly over her frail body. He could sense her awkwardness. She was new, transferred from another location after some kind of staffing issue. Her chart said she’d been there since she was 16. Six years. Must have been rough. He skipped a few pages to her background. In the notes section of the file he saw a precaution written in red ink, “Important: Keep head shaved.” He wondered what would happen if she didn’t. Did they think she would grow it out and climb out the window with it? He chuckled quietly at himself. Her head turned, the innocent eyes twitched and narrowed, wondering what could be so funny within the manila folder that was her life. He could see the mental inventory of what was written there: prescriptions, locations, her attempted suicide… her whole, unremarkable life was recorded in the paper between his hands. The thought sent a thrill through him.

Literary Nymphs Reviewer: Satyr Vael
Morgan Carbone is a hard-boiled detective who’s after a serial killer preying on young women. During an interrogation with the man, she’s attacked and her life is suddenly changed forever. Now she’s compelled to hunt down a vampiress, but what happens when her own emotions become entangled with the enigmatic woman she’s supposed to kill?
Under the Moonlight is a fast-paced story full of action--in and out of the bed. The plot is very intriguing, especially given some key players I personally loved reading. I don’t want to give anything away, but let’s just say that one of those players is a particular historical figure known for her… bloodlust. The love scenes are hot and never repetitive and the ending was wonderful.
If you enjoy lesbian vampire stories, I definitely suggest giving Under the Moonlight a read.

Well it's been a while since I've updated this blog. :D Here are a few things that have been going on in my life.
1. Gave birth to my first child on January 14th 2009. A little boy that my husband and I named Mason.
2. Finished writing a novel titled The Laurel.
3. Life has basically become a blur of sleepless nights, diapers and bottles. But I couldn't be happier. :D
4. I've decided to take a break from writing since I barely have time to catch up on my sleep, but I do have a few ideas running around the back of my mind.
Anyway I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to warmer weather. Come on Spring!
Many blessings to you all,
Sincerely,
Isabelle Rose
Can you tell readers what Under the Moonlight is about?
Under the Moonlight is about Detective Morgan Carbone and what happens to her when she gets bitten by a serial killer that claims to be a werewolf. Most of the back story is explained during the prologue, which incidentally, started out as a short story and after a while with Morgan stewing in my head I had no choice but to turn her story into a novel. The rest of the novel is about what happens to Morgan when she gets captured by a werewolf named Mario Bonaventura who sends her to Europe to kill Elizabeth Bathory. What no one was counting on was that Morgan would fall in love with the very beautiful and very deadly vampire, complicating her mission in more ways than she could’ve imagined.
Here is the official blurb:
In the blink of an eye, Detective Morgan Carbone’s life changes from day to night. Sociopath, serial killer, and charmer David McAllister won’t reveal where the bodies of several young women are located, and Morgan is determined to get answers from him. She gets much more from him during an interrogation, when he sinks his teeth into her hand, causing her to bleed profusely. The bite leaves Morgan with flawless skin as her wound heals quickly and perfectly, and it leaves her with severe bloodlust as she has now turned into a werewolf, like her serial-killing nemesis. This drastic change casts Morgan into an action-packed, dramatic journey as she is pressured (a deadly chip in the brain can do that) by a man to go across the country to kill a vampire that has supposedly killed his sister. Morgan must decide if she will fulfill her goal for him or let her heart fall for the deadly vampiress, who eerily reminds her of her first and only true love – a woman who got away.
I have actually heard about the real Elizabeth Bathory while watching a program about vampires. History states that she did in fact bathe in the blood of nubile young women to abstain the aging process. Was there something in particular about Elizabeth Bathory that grabbed your attention and had you wanting to write about her?
I always found her story fascinating (in a grotesque sort of way) and the more I read about Elizabeth Bathory the more I wanted to use her as a character in one of my stories. What really drew me to her was the fact that it was a beautiful woman who thought that bathing in young girls’ blood would keep her forever young and beautiful. And even though she was found guilty of these crimes (it took a long time to catch her, she was so careful) she was only held under house arrest in her own house, living the rest of her days locked up in her room. The opportunity presented itself for me to finally use this twisted woman in my novel while I was writing Under the Moonlight. I actually did a lot of research on her before I even started writing her into my story. If anyone is interested, this is the book I used for my research The Blood Countess: The Atrocities of Erzsebet Bathory by Valentine Penrose.
What I loved most about your novel was the “what if” question that kept going around and around in my brain. For example there was a character in the novel who was known as being a mad doctor of sorts. Was there really a Marianne Green who went by The Surgeon? If so, what fascinated you with her characteristics? If not, how did you come up with this character?
LOL. Marianne Green was someone I came up with. I love characters that are beautiful on the outside and incredibly ugly and twisted on the inside. Marianne is a brilliant scientist who can’t stop herself from doing these terrible things to people and it doesn’t really take much to instigate her. If you look at her the wrong way or drop something on the floor too close to her feet…that’s really all she needs to lash out on you. As to how I came up with her? Let’s just say whenever I have a bad day my mind runs rampant with very bad thoughts. Good thing I have my writing to vent.

With this new collection of short stories, author Isabelle Rose explores the connection between colors and emotions. From mythical gods and creatures, to typical everyday situations. Each tale unique in its own way, but all of them connected by various characters. A writer trying to find her muse (literally). A young woman trying to flee an abusive relationship. And a cashier getting lost in the woods and finding more than she had ever bargained for. In The Jackets you will find an interesting blend of fiction and fantasy. There's no way of knowing what will happen next.

Though this is not the typical romance I would normally read, it was by far one of the more unique books I have reviewed. The characters of Morgan and Elizabeth are well defined and are not lacking in spirit. Ms. Rose has used the character of Elizabeth Bathory very well. She chose her vampire from the very pages of history which makes it a much more interesting read. I was not interested in the love scenes, though they are well written and truly descriptive. If you like lesbian romance with a twist of the paranormal, this is the book for you.
Warning: Strong, detailed female/female love scenes.

All night she dreamt of blood. The crackle and crunch of bones made her uneasy.

Morgan gasped and kicked until she was awake. Her head throbbed. She smelled like sweat and fear and there was something stuck between her teeth. She pried at it unsuccessfully with her fingernails. Frustrated, she threw the sheets aside and ran into the bathroom. She grabbed a bit of dental floss. The thin piece of white string slid back and forth. Morgan let out a sigh of relief when she felt whatever it was come loose. She felt large piece of skin between her thumb and index finger. Only it had…ridges. She frowned.
Probably a piece of chicken from yesterday’s lunch.
That’s strange.

Isabelle Rose pens the tale of vampires and werewolves in her novel Under the Moonlight. It is an intriguing tale of love, lust, and betrayal that will keep you reading well into the night. Sometimes I got a little hung up on too much detail in some parts, but the story line well made up for that, all in all a very good read. 4 Hearts
